Living with Diabetes isn’t easy. I have Type 2. Trying to watch my diet and pricking my finger ever day can be a pain🩸. I also do a lot of walking for exercise 🚶🏻♀️➡️. Every morning, I check my blood sugar and write it down in a blood sugar log book. I’m not on insulin, but I’m on a few medications (Metformin, Glipizide, and Januvia) 💊 for now. The reason for the other two is because I can’t take any higher of a dose of Metformin than I’m already on because it makes me sick. I’m very sensitive to medications and some of them can make me feel pretty bad 🤢.
Trying to keep my A1C down has been a struggle. I had bloodwork🩸done yesterday, and my A1C was 7.2, which is high. It has to be checked every 3 months. In April, it was 8.7 which was much worse. There’s been improvement but it’s still not where it needs to be. I’ll admit that sometimes I’m not good with my diet, I get cravings and eat things I shouldn’t. My late dad had diabetes and he was on insulin. I think I may end up on insulin at some point 💉. I used to manage his diabetes so I know how it all works so at least I’m prepared for it I guess.
I also have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). That was also checked and it’s normal which is good. Sometimes it gets really messed up and my medication (Levothyroxine) 💊 needs to be adjusted. I was a bit surprised it was normal because it wasn’t for awhile until the medication had to be adjusted twice to get it back to normal. When it’s off, I get a lot of fatigue and generally feel lousy. Since it’s been stable for a bit, the doctor aid she doesn’t need to check it again for 6 months. As usual, my A1C will be checked again in 3 months. I have an appointment next week so I don’t know if she’s going to make any changes to medications or not.
I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with so much with your health. Managing diabetes every day, keeping track of your blood sugar, watching your diet, and dealing with medications sounds exhausting. It’s good that your A1C has improved from 8.7 to 7.2, even if it’s not where you want it yet. I hope your appointment goes well and things continue getting better for you. ❤️
Thanks. At least there is improvement I guess.
